Commentary | Sansón Carrasco proposes himself to be don Quixote's squire and don Quixote tells Sancho: "No te dije yo, Sancho, que no me habían de sobrar escuderos? (7:2), which causes Sancho's sadness.
Sancho's sad face is remarkable; tender image. Notice how the dialogue has been developed through gestures and looks. Drawing and engraving are excellent. |
Notes | 1 - Same plate first engraved for London: Tonson, 1749, now partially-erased (as used in 1766 too).
2 - Plate 18. |
