Commentary | Diverse elements in reference to Altisidora's resurrection episode: Minos and Rhadamanthus' crowns, Sancho's clothes, a torch (with which Sancho menaces the dueñas) and Altisidora's garland of flowers.
There is also a sort of stick, which refers to Altisidora's palm branch. Altought Viardot's translation is correct -"une branche triomphale de palmier" (p. 704)-, Johannot has represented Altisidora with this sort of stick in the previous illustration too. In the next chapter, Altisidora is described with "un báculo de negro y finísimo ébano" (70:2) |
