Commentary After the adventure with the Basque, Sancho looks for some lint and ointment into his bagsaddle to heal don Quixote; then, don Quixote will discover his helmet broken.
The naturalism of Sancho's figure is remarkable.
Johannot has preferred the previous moment of dialogue between the knight and the squire to the one in which don Quixote loses his senses after seeing his helmet broken.
Notes A. Pollet (19th century): French wood engraver. He was brother of Victor Florence Pollet (Paris, 1811 - Mayenne, 1882), history painter and burin engraver (Benezit VIII, 409).
