Commentary | Well-known scene; this one of the most represented episodes. Johannot has chosen the last moment of the adventure, when Sancho arrives to help don Quixote, already defeated by the windmill.
Sancho has been represented carrying a sword, as he appears since the earliest illustrated editions (Lisboa: Jorge RodrÃguez, 1605; Paris: Denis Moreau, 1618; London: Blount, 1620). |
