Commentary | Don Quixote and Sancho both blindfolded and mounted on Clavileño (notice the peg on Clavileño's forehead; accurate to Cervantes' text) while some Duke's servants simulate its flight with pairs of bellows and torches.
The bearded dueñas, the Duke and others observe the scene. Cruikshank's personal style is very remarkable; notice the use of quick and short etching lines. |
Notes | 1 - Compare with another illus. by the same illustrator about the same episode for London: Knight & Lacey, 1824.
2 - Print with light foxing. |
