Commentary | Two different scenes in the same plate:
The first one, in the background: don Quixote makes some mad acts (some somersaults half-naked) before Sancho leaves for El Toboso mounted on Rocinante. The second one, in the foreground: don Quixote remains alone in Sierra Morena doing his love penance (praying with a rosary). Drawing, shading and engraving are excellent; detailed figures and setting; good gestures and expressions; remarkable style. |
