Commentary | Two different scenes in the same plate:
In the background, the first one: don Quixote and Sancho encounter some soldiers with galley slaves. In the foreground, the second one: don Quixote attacks the soldiers and helps the galley slaves to get free; some of the slaves appear stonning the soldiers; Sancho helps to release the slaves too. Drawing, shading and engraving are excellent; detailed figures and setting; good gestures and expressions; remarkable style. |
