Commentary | Don Quixote and Sancho Panza arrive at don Diego de Miranda's house, where they meet don Diego's wife, doña Cristina, and their son, don Lorenzo.
Simple composition (all the characters in the foreground); good setting (see accurate details: tobosescas tinajas, large pitchers). Drawing and engraving are acceptable. |
Notes | 1 - Inverted copy and with fewer details after Lebarbier's illustration (Paris: Didot-Deterville, 1799); also previously copied by Bigant for Paris: Chez Gide, 1806 and Paris: H. Nicolle, 1809 and by Macret for Paris: Briand, 1810.
2 - Placed in the lower left corner, but it should appear on the right, after "Don Quixote defeats the Knight of the Mirrors". 3 - Placed as frontispiece. 4 - Same plate first engraved for Paris: Renouard, 1812. |
