Commentary | In the foreground, Countess Trifaldi kneels down before the Duke and the Duchess; don Quixote and Sancho observe them; Trifaldín (on the left) follows the Countess (both figures in mourning).
In the background, sketched, the retinue of "dueñas". Drawing and engraving with little quality. Deficient printing/preservation. |
Notes | 1 - Turned copy with little quality after Le Barbier's illustration (Paris: Didot-Deterville, 1799); also previously copied by Bigant for Paris: Chez Gide, 1806 and Paris: H. Nicolle, 1809.
2 - Placed as frontispiece. 3 - Placed in the lower left corner, but it should be on the right, after "Don Quixote and Sancho after the adventure of the enchanted boat". |
