| Commentary | The Duchess' page, knelt down, takes letters and presents to Teresa Panza: "una sarta de corales con extremos de oro" (50:2).
Accurate detail to Cervantes' text: Teresa holds a tow ball. Teresica should appear barefoot. Bucolic setting. Drawing and engraving are not too much good. |
| Notes | 1 - Copy with fewer details after Lebarbier's illustration (Paris: Didot-Deterville, 1799); also previously copied by Bigant for Paris: Chez Gide, 1806 and Paris: H. Nicolle, 1809 and by Macret for Paris: Briand, 1810.
2 - Placed as frontispiece. 3 - Compare with Madrid: Ibarra, 1780. 4 - Same plate first engraved for Paris: Renouard, 1812. |
