In the foreground, don Quixote defeats one of the slave guards, while Sancho releases the galley slaves. In the background, the consequence: don Quixote and Sancho Panza are stoned by the galley slaves. Composition based on Bouttats' (Amberes: Verdussen, 1672 - 1673). |
