Don Quixote de la Mancha
Part I, 1605
The Visualization of Don Quixote or VDQ combines the Iconography database images from the Cervantes Project along with the texts of Don Quixote to present—in the forms of slideshows and animations slides—the chapters, episodes and adventures encountered in the novel.
The site is divided by chapters, which, in turn, is divided by its most famous episodes and adventures. By interacting programs such as HTML, JavaScript, and TEI every chapters illustrates the most important actions that are described through the reading of each chapter's text. As a result, the slideshows and animation slides are also synchronized with the Browse illustrations by chapter, episodes and adventures section of the Cervantes Project.
Each slideshow and animation are composed of images that span from 1617 to 2005, and cover publishers from Bautista Sorita (1617), Compagnie des Libraires (1722), Henrik A. Nordström (1818), Bell and Sons (1911) to Cervantes & Co; Juan de la Cuesta (2005).
As mentioned before, this site also presents the TEI version—which has been converted into a HTML format—of the textual novel of Don Quixote In this way, the reader will have the opportunity to read and/or see the episode or adventure visualized.
